If you are under state pension age and your partner dies you may be entitled to a Bereavement Support Payment. The payment entitles you to a one-off payment of between £2,500 and £3,500, plus an additional £100 - £350 per month for up to 18 months.

These amounts will depend on your relationship to the person who died, the timing of your claim and how long until you reach state pension age. They are not affected by how much you earn or have in savings.

How soon you make your claim can affect the amount of money you’ll get. You will usually need to a make a claim within 21 months of your partner’s death.
